Alba Photographic Society

Alba Photographic Society is for enthusiasts of all levels. You will find a warm welcome at the club whether you are a beginner, advanced, or anything in between. We have several volunteer Mentors who are happy to share their knowledge with less experienced members.

There is time to mingle during the tea break when tea/coffee/ biscuits are served free of charge.

Alba Photographic Society is based in the Community Hall, Old Manse Rd, Netherton, Wishaw ML2 0EW. We meet each Wednesday evening at 7:15 - 9:30 from September to April, with a mix of Speakers, Practical Tuition, and Competitions.

The community hall is fitted with a wall-mounted screen purchased by the club, and we have a projector for displaying images.

We have four sets of studio lights with backdrops for portraiture. There is also a camera which can be used for demonstration purposes.
We have various other photographic sundries and members can borrow from our stock.

There is adequate car parking at the hall.

The Club has a Syllabus which is published for the start of the new session. This provides information on what is on each week at our Wednesday meeting which includes Speakers Nights, Club Competitions and Practical Tuition nights on a variety of photographic skills.

Other events may appear on the Syllabus, including details of the GDPU Inter Club Image Competition rounds in which Alba PS compete. There are also dates for external visits to Summerlee Studio, which although still on a Wednesday, are held when Netherton Hall is due to be closed for holidays.

When new members join, they are given a Club Membership number which is the gate to Competition Entries. Our Competition Secretary has various guidance notes for competition entry and will share these with you.

During the summer months we have informal outings once a week, usually a Wednesday. This may be either during the day or evening, depending on the location. We generally agree a meeting place and members can car share if they wish.

The Summer Outings Programme is published at the end of the Session, and this will give information on where we are going. Postings are published on Shutterbug17 (see below for details).

Alba PS is affiliated to the Glasgow District Photographic Union (GDPU).

If you are thinking of joining, please email : albapswishaw@gmail.com
